Cooking up a treat in Ascot
20th May 2009
"The vibrant colours of the Mediterranean vegetables and the aroma of the turkey steaks wrapped in cured ham, stuffed with Grana Padano cheese and green pesto captivated our senses. A hearty mushroom soup and a delicious and delicate lemon pudding completed the sensual experience that was accompanied by wonderful South African wines." This was one student's feedback following a special field trip to a cookery school, organised by Senior LMBS Lecturer Ioannis Pantelidis.
Ioannis organised the trip for undergraduate, postgraduate and SIFE London Met students who were eager to experience hospitality in practice.
Students from both the MA in International Hotel and Restaurant Management, and the BA in International Hospitality Management, as well as students from the SIFE London Met team and from the London Met Hospitality Society spend a day at the beautiful Cedar Lodge Cookery School, Ascot.
The students enjoyed the sunshine and gardens as well as the opportunity to hone their cooking skills and explore combinations of flavours and colours.
Gillian Shaw, proprietor of the cookery school hosted the day workshop with characteristic Australian warmth. Students commented that this was a most enjoyable day and a great learning experience for all.
