Hospitality Management students win Development Award
28th October 2008
Hospitality Management students at the London Metropolitan Business School recently participated in a competition organised by lecturer Ioannis Pantelidis in association with Argent Development, a property development company. The competition split the group into four teams who were then asked to develop feasibility studies for a unique restaurant concept for the German Gymnasium at the newly developed King’s Cross station.
After extensive market research student groups presented their findings and ideas at Argents headquarters in King’s Cross to a judging panel that included their lecturers Ioannis Pantelidis and Melanie MacFarlane-Smith along with employees of Argent development.
Ioannis Pantelidis said: ‘We have been running such consultancy projects for a number of years but this year was even more exciting as we were developing a project in the heart of the Kings Cross redevelopment area.’
The students found the experience very rewarding. Agnieszka Duras said: ‘Developing this project for Argent was an amazing opportunity to apply university knowledge into the real life situations, so far this has been the most inspiring assignment of all I have done at the University!’
On behalf of Argent development William Colthorpe said: ‘This was a worthwhile venture and the projects have certainly given us ideas for the future development of the Gymnasium. The teams were all very good but this particular one stood out for its concepts development and solid presentation skills. We are looking forward to doing a similar project in the future with even more unique and vibrant ideas’.’
