LMBS Scholarship helps Tower Hamlets student find his feet

London Metropolitan Business School (LMBS) awarded its first scholarship to a Tower Hamlets school pupil on 16 October at an event organised to welcome Visiting Professors to the University.

The scholarship comprised of a brand new laptop and a £6000 grant to cover the winner’s tuition fees.

This year’s winner, Charlie Nicholson came from George Green’s school on the Isle of Dogs. Charlie was nominated by his teacher for his outstanding academic achievement at A-level. He is now enrolled in his first year studying Accounting and Economics.

Charlie said: ‘This scholarship award will help me enormously by taking the weight of fees off my back. The laptop will also make a vast difference to my time at university, meaning I can take notes in lectures, research and write work independent of my home computer or the University’s facilities.’

Pat Wood, Academic Leader at LMBS said: ‘This new scholarship scheme set up for the Local London Boroughs schools with LMBS rewards and celebrates hardworking students with non traditional academic backgrounds to support them in raising their aspirations to fulfil their potential in UK's leading socially inclusive university and Business School. We are very happy that Charlie Nicholson has received this scholarship.’
