LMBS works the catwalk for charity
3rd April 2009
London Metropolitan Business School was flooded with a riot of colour, fabric and dance recently when it held a fashion and dance show in aid of local charity Cricket 4 Change (C4C). The show was staged in front of a packed audience at London Met’s award-winning Rocket complex.
Models, street dancers, PR ambassadors and graphic designers came together to raise funds for C4C which uses cricket to engage young people in London and internationally. The charity is led by LMBS Visiting Professor Tom Rodwell and alumni Andy Sellins.
The event was organised by LMBS Senior Lecturers Chandres Tejura and Katerina Sergiou. Student volunteers had the opportunity to showcase the skills that they had learnt and developed on related degrees in Fashion Marketing, and Music and Media Management.
The catwalk show was opened by Alvin Kalicharan, former West Indies cricketer and Jennifer Mistri, BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing Fever Finalist. LMBS partners and local businesses, including Investec, Compass and JK Shah Accountants were particularly generous in their support
Pat Wood, Head of Corporate and Community Synergy at LMBS commented: 'The event exemplified one of the LMBS’s key strengths: the ability of students, staff and the local community to work together in partnership.'
Fashion contributions were made by costume designer Amy Rose, MA International Relations graduate Oluyomi Agoro, Elevated Mindz designer Ehigie Aigiomawv, top UK millinery Suzanne Bettley and celebrity favourite, accessories designer Anna Lou.
