LondonMet Alumus Wins International Award
9th March 2009
Anthony Roussel a graduate of BA Hons Jewellery and Silversmithing at the Sir John Cass Department of Art, Media and Design (JCAMD) has won the Young Designers Award voted for by the French press at the Kara show in Paris. He was also short-listed for the Young British Designer of the Year at the Italian Jewellery Awards. Anthony, who was recently profiled in the Financial Times, combines traditional craft and cutting edge technology, often using laser-cutting techniques with wood. He aims to create jewellery which functions as sculptural objects as well as wearable pieces of body adornment in their own right.
Anthony’s work has been on show at a host of exhibitions including the Electrum Gallery Christmas Exhibition, DAZZLE at the National Theatre, Kara - Carrousel du Louvre, Effervescence III - Sussex Barn Gallery and Hidden Art Making it Digital Launch - Broadway Market.
Michael Upton, Academic Leader at the department said: ‘We are delighted by Anthony’s continued and deserved success. His work explores the relationship between innovation and tradition- which is very much in keeping with the JCAMD philosophy.’
