Major Exhibition for Cass Alumnus Vic Reeves

20th April 2009

A major exhibition of new work by Vic Reeves, a well-known alumnus of The Cass (The Sir John Cass Department of Art, Media and Design), will take place until 29 April at a Mayfair Gallery.

Titled Where Eagles Tremble, the show features a series of aviation-inspired paintings that illustrate a fictional story written by Reeves about the life and career of enigmatic film actor Alan Todd, who makes aviation films featuring WWII airplanes.

Although perhaps better known for surreal comedy than he is for his painting, Vic Reeves is now dedicating much of his time to art and this is his third solo exhibition. Reeves (real name James Moir), who was awarded and Honorary Doctorate by London Metropolitan University in December 2008, has also published book of his art called Sunboiled Onions and is presently working on a huge book of illustrations for publication this year.
