PR industry headquarters visit inspires LMBS students
9th February 2009

Fifty first-year LMBS BA Public Relations (PR) students and staff visited the Grade One listed headquarters of the UK’s Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) for a reception and tour to start their year.
After introductions by Gareth Thompson and Michael Yorke, who teach
on the BA Public Relations course at LMBS, the students heard from the
deputy director of the CIPR, Ann Mealor, on the work of the Institute.
This talk was followed by a tour of the magnificent building and the
facilities available to members.
Undaleeb Qazi, who graduated from LMBS in 2006, then gave a talk on
her career in PR. After joining the multicultural communications team
of the Webber Shandwick agency in London, she now leads internal
communications at Harrow Council.
Variously described by students as 'nspiring,' 'a real role model'
and 'a great success story,' Undaleeb’s talk was the highlight of the
evening ahead of the drinks in the CIPR’s Charter Room.
One BA PR student, Samantha Stevens, summed up the event by saying: 'The venue was beautiful, the resources available to members are useful and to be able to join the CIPR at a reduced rate is very helpful.'
