SIFE London Met organise Employability Week
5th May 2009
London Metropolitan University’s team of Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) recently organised an employability week held between 31 March and 2 April.
Hundreds of students attended the series of events at which industry professionals delivered talks, seminars and workshops on the development of student employability skills. The week culminated in a forum allowing students to engage and network with a number of high-profiled companies
SIFE team’s viral videos received over 4500 hits over the period and students gave excellent feedback including: ‘This was one of the best employability events I have been to'; and ‘The sessions were informative and enjoyable. I really hope they do this again next year’. Industry presenters were so impressed by the event and the students that many signed up to the SIFE team's Business Advisory Board.
The Dean of LMBS, Bob Morgan, commented: ‘I would like to congratulate the team for an extremely professionally organised event'.
One of the highlights of the Employability Week was a competition sponsored by the One & All Foundation, which offered three winners a place on One & All’s highly valuable Hospitality Mentoring Programme.
The winners, Matilda Ankoma, Mirco Galassi (International Hospitality Management) and Saiqa Raja, (Event Management), will join a 6-month programme with professional mentors. They will meet successful business people within the hospitality industry on a monthly basis to discuss their career, personal goals and ways to approach work and life.
