Bio

Vlasios is a Quantitative Economist specialising in geospatial modelling. He is senior lecturer at London Metropolitan Business School. Before that he was working for Birkbeck University of London and as a senior consultant. Vlasios provides services to corporations and non-profit organisations by consulting regularly with executives from a variety of fields to help create pragmatic solutions to world-impacting problems.

Experience

Vlasios has more than 10 years of working experience in Greece and UK for government and private organisations. For example, recently, he has been working as a Senior Consultant for Defra, UK by beeing involved in the analysis of the Avian Influenza and Foot & Mouth disease outbreaks and Bluetongue virus as part of the National Emergency Epidemiology Group (NEEG) and the Rapid Analysis and Detection of Animal Related Risk (RADAR) teams.

Vlasios has considerable expertise in spatial statistics and modelling, agent-based computational economics and knowledge representation methods and tools. Recently, he started a research project investigating novel agent-based economics models to enhance the understanding of economic developments at local, regional and national levels. He has also developed novel computational statistical methods and tools for financial analysis, business intelligence and operations research.

Qualifications

Ph.D. in Geospatial Modelling of Indeterminate Phenomena MSc in Information Systems & Technology BA in Economics.

Honours & Awards

IGU-UGI & ESRI award 2006 - In recognition of his work in capturing Conceptualisation Uncertainty using Object-Field model, Vienna, Austria. Vespucci Initiative for GI Science 2005 - Grant awarded by Ordnance Survey (OS) to participate in Spatial Data Infrastructures and the Spatial Grid Week (Florence, Italy).
